This is the digital home of Illinois' newest Sons of the American Revolution Chapter. The ink is barely dry on our chapter charter, but our members are filled with enthusiasm. We are particularly proud to carry the name of Fort Armstrong, a real fort located in the Mississippi River at the foot of Rock Island between Iowa and Illinois. Fort Armstrong was an important fortress of the western frontier during the early 1800s.
The Sons of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political lineage organization. This means that each member of our chapter and the entire national society, has traced their family tree back to a point of having an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783. Our purposes are historical preservation, education and encouraging patriotism. You can learn more about the membership qualifications on the NSSAR site. Keep in mind that you will be asked to prove your lineage through the generations. Although this sounds like a daunting task, it is quite doable and rewarding. You may even find that someone has already established your ancestor as a Patriot through the SAR or the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Once you have reviewed the membership guidelines, we will be happy to assist you with any membership questions or concerns. You can contact our current chapter registrar at this address. For your convenience more information about membership can be found HERE. We invite you to join our ranks as we strive to keep patriotism and the spirit of our heritage alive.
